2020 Toyota Camry TRD vs Civic Type R // Drag Race

The 2020 Camry TRD and Civic Type R are setup for what might appear to be an unusual drag race. However the two cars actually share quite a bit in common. They are both front wheel drive and push out over 300 horsepower. And they are both covered in a smattering of fake vents and have a stylish wing. Will the Camry TRD be able to take down the notoriously hard to launch hot hatch? Or will the Honda Civic Type R claim victory over its comfortable cruising competitor? Just to shake things up, the guys have brought out a surprise contender to race the winner. Watch to find out what happens!

The Honda Civic Type R

The Type R is notoriously uncooperative for launches. It experiences some aggressive wheel spin off the hop – even at low rpms. It also has two less cylinders than its naturally aspirated rival. However it does have the advantage of being lighter and having a bit more torque. James is driving the Type R, so he is looking to get the best launch he can to keep the Camry close by off the line.

The 2020 Camry TRD

The 2020 Camry TRD is attempting to dethrone a hot hatch track star. However it was smart enough to challenge it at the drag strip, instead of at the Type R’s usual stomping grounds on the track. Here, Thomas looks to use his automatic transmission and two extra cylinders to beat James off the line and stay ahead until the end. Will the naturally aspirated V6 be enough to overcome the turbocharged Type R’s weight and torque advantage? The guys put it to the test in both a drag and a roll race. Watch and enjoy!
