The New Lexus LS 500 vs the Old Lexus LS 460
Today the new Lexus LS 500 faces off against its older counterpart – the LS 460. Despite the different number on the badge, both the new and old LS were the flagship luxury sedan for Lexus at the time. Thomas and James test the similarities and the differences between these two smooth rollers. And James spends some time in a Thomas-made sensory deprivation helmet…for science! A whopping $130k separates these two Lexus’s (Lexuses, Lexi?) along with several other key differences. Will the older LS 460 win by price tag alone? Or will the new LS 500 live up to its cost – despite its unavoidable depreciation?
A Unique Test for Noise Vibrations and Harshness
Thomas has hatched up a device to let James test the noise, vibrations, and harshness of each car in fair and strictly scientific manner. James is to sit in each car while wearing a blind fold, ear plugs, and nose plugs. From there, Thomas will take him for the same trip in each LS. This allows him to judge each car based solely on their ride quality – since he doesn’t know which car he is in. After he has been driven in both the Lexus LS 500 and the LS 460, James will take off his blindfold and guess which car was the first trip, and which was the second. What do you think the results will be? Watch and find out!
